How to show the Family display on your TV
Switch on the Family display module, open it on a phone or tablet, then mirror the screen with Smart View, Chromecast or AirPlay. It works on any smart TV that accepts screen mirroring. Keep the phone and TV on the same Wi-Fi network, and keep the device charging while the display is on.
What shows on the TV?
- Each member's points today against their target, shown with a progress ring.
- Each member's next chores.
- The family goal progress.
- Today's family events.
- The pinned notice.
- A large clock with today's date.
Children can tap their own column on the tablet and enter their PIN to open their view. The TV continues to show whatever is on that device.
Step 1: switch on the module
In UrusFamily, open More, tap Customise, go to Modules, then switch on Family display. Only a parent or adult can switch on the module and open this display.
Step 2: cast from Android
- Make sure the phone or tablet and the TV are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Pull down quick settings from the top of the screen.
- Tap Smart View on a Samsung phone, or Cast or Screen cast on another phone.
- Pick your TV from the list.
- Open UrusFamily and enter Family display.
Chromecast, Google TV and Android TV sets usually appear in this device list.
Step 2: cast from iPhone or iPad
- Make sure the iPhone or iPad and the TV are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open Control Center.
- Tap Screen Mirroring.
- Pick your Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible TV.
- Open UrusFamily and enter Family display.
Many Samsung, LG and Sony TVs from 2019 onwards support AirPlay.
Tips so the display stays on
- Keep the phone or tablet charging while the display is on.
- Turn the device sideways for a fuller picture if screen rotation is switched on.
- Set the device's screen timeout longer while it is showing the display.
- A spare old tablet on a stand makes a useful family display.
- Leaving the Family display needs the parent PIN, so children cannot wander into other screens.
Common questions
Does the Family display need the internet?
Yes. The Family display uses the internet like the rest of UrusFamily and updates its information within about a minute.
Can children change anything from the TV?
No. The TV only mirrors the display. Every tap, including opening a child's space with their PIN, happens on the phone or tablet.
Is there a TV app?
Not yet. Screen casting works today, and a TV app is planned for the future.
Does the Family display cost anything?
