Use rewards, allowance and the wallet

Rewards trade points for privileges, such as 30 minutes of extra screen time. A parent creates them in More, Rewards, Add reward, the child taps Redeem, and the parent taps Grant. Allowance lives in the Wallet, at a Value per point (RM) you set. The wallet only records real money you give, with no payments in the app.

The UrusFamily Wallet screen: a child's allowance balance in RM and a spend request

How do I create a reward?

  1. Open the More tab and tap Rewards. Only parents can create rewards.

  2. Tap Add reward. Pick one of the Suggestions, such as 30 minutes extra screen time for 40 points, or fill in your own Reward and Cost (points).

  3. Choose a Weekly limit: No limit, 1x, 2x or 3x.

  4. Tap Save. Change a reward with Edit or delete it with Remove.

How does a child redeem a reward?

  1. The child opens Rewards and sees their points to spend at the top.

  2. They tap Redeem on a reward. Without enough points, the button shows how many more are needed.

  3. The parent sees the request under Requests on the same screen, then taps Grant or Decline.

  4. Points are only taken when the parent taps Grant.

How do I turn on an allowance in the Wallet?

  1. The wallet is off by default. Open More, Family settings, Modules, and turn on Wallet and allowance under Rewards and money.

  2. Open More, Wallet, pick a child, and tap Allowance settings.

  3. Fill in Value per point (RM). For example 0.10: 10 points make RM 1.00. If you like, fill in Saving for and Savings target (RM). Tap Save.

  4. Tap Payday and split to choose a Payday (weekly or monthly), a weekly cap, and the split between Spend, Save and giving. The default split is 70, 20 and 10 percent.

Kids and teens only see the Wallet once a parent has set a value per point.

How do I record money given or spent?

  1. In the Wallet, tap Add transaction. Choose Give money, Spent or Move to savings, fill in Amount (RM) and a note, then save.

  2. A child can tap Ask to spend and say what it is for. The parent taps Approve or Decline under Spend requests.

  3. Records cannot be deleted. To fix a mistake, tap the record and choose Reverse.

The wallet is a record book. No real money moves in the app: you hand over cash or transfer it yourself, then record it here.

Questions

Does UrusFamily move real money?

No. The wallet only records money a parent gives or a child spends, in RM. There are no payments, cards or bank accounts in the wallet. You hand over cash or transfer it yourself, then record it in the app.

How much is one point worth as allowance?

A parent sets it for each child in Allowance settings, from RM 0.01 to RM 100.00 per point. For example RM 0.10 means 10 points make RM 1.00.

Who can create and grant rewards?

Only parents create rewards and tap Grant. Other adults can manage a child's wallet, but reward requests are approved by a parent.

Are points used up when they are paid as allowance?

No. Paying allowance records which points were paid in RM, but the points balance for rewards only goes down when a parent grants a reward.
